Orange Audio Review

Orange (2010)
CAST: Ramcharan Tej, Genelia, Shazahn Padamsee
Director : Bhaskar
Producer : Nagendra Babu
Music Director : Harris Jayaraj

Its been months that i waited for a musical album to release this badly and the time has come.Yes ! Orange - Third movie of Mega power star "Ram Charan Tej" is finally out ! This movie comes with a crazy combination - One it comes from RCT who is freshly out from the success of stupendous hit Maghadheera, second there is director Bhaskar (baaski) who delivered superb yet meaningful entertainers like bommarillu and parugu, third its from the "MEGA" production house anjana productions who gave us hits like rudraveena, trinetrudu and baavagaru bagunnara and last but not the least the music for this movie is scored by none other than Harris jayaraj who is famously knows for his haunting melodies. With this kind of combination, obviously listeners will have a tremendous expectations and lets see how the audio fared ?

1.Ola Olaala Ala - ☆☆☆
Artist(s): Karunya, Ranina Reddy
Lyricist: Surendra Krishna, Kedarnath Parimi

Harris Jayaraj is known for starting songs with catching interludes or chorus bits thats stay with you and there you go,the first song of the album starts with a male interlude. This song is a sweet melody that expresses the boys feeling when he falls in love. You will get surprised when you hear to karunya's voice in this song.He sounds different, trendy and modern. He suits to the mood of the song and the chorus adds the necessary peppiness to it.Though the beat is foot tapping, its only good at parts. The new lyricists Surendra krishna and kedarnath are not upto mark and its just normal.Lines like

"Theluskunnadi konchame,aa koncham lone entho nachchave" are good.

The female chorus at times interrupts the flow and it doesnt go well with the song. The best parts of the song are its melody and the way karunya renders it,Listen it to the feel it carries in the last one minute !!

2.Chilipiga - ☆☆☆☆☆
Artist(s): Karthik
Lyricist: Vanamali

Just as you get little disappointed with the opening number of the album, here comes a great melody again. If you can ever wonder how is it possible to make a song with just a guitar, simple orchestration and one great voice, this is the song !! This song again talks about feelings of a guy who is in love,Though the theme may be same, the way harris presents this song is worth an applaud. The tune of the song is so simple that you would instandly fall in love with this number.Lyrics by vanamali are not so exceptional but karthik once again proves that he is at utmost ease in singing these melodies. The musical saxphone piece is outstanding in the song.I really loved the way harris mixed karthik's voice with the female chorus at the very end of the song and as you feel that you really love the number,it comes to an end and trust me you want to hear it again !!!

3.Nenu Nuvvantu - ☆☆☆
Artist(s): Naresh Iyer, Nadeesh
Lyricist: Vanamali
As you trying to come out from the mood of chilipiga choostho song, you are presented with yet another great number by the maestro. This time its a breezy melody which talks about a guy explaining to a girl that he is a good lover to her.Sometimes it strikes me real hard the way harris comes up with endless melodies with a very simple orchestration,I think thats when you call a person gifted in music ! I felt naresh iyer was the best choice for this song and he sang this song to utmost perfection with minor pronunciation glitches (exemted for the great singer he is).As always harris trusts on his guitar players, his traditional rythm and a impressive chorus makes this song a pleasent hear.I really liked the way the following lines were written and composed in the song

"Oka sari choosi nenu valachaana, nannu veedipodu ye maguvu ayyina premisthaane entho gaadanga"
"Naa prema lothu lo munigaaka, nuvvu paiki thelave sulabhanga, praanalu ayyina istha yekanga"
""
Though harris again uses his nature of mixing the main voice with the chorus of the song,we dont get bored and it adds to the beuty of the song.My personal favourite of the album !!

4.Hello Rammante - ☆☆☆
Artist(s): Vijay Prakash, Devan
Lyricist: Rama Jhogaya Sastry
When chilipiga and nenu nuvvuantu takes you through soft melodies, hello rammantu is a fast pacy number which talks about a guy who is immersed in love with a girl.Vijay prakash who sang the very famous "Hosana" from YMC rendered this song and i thought he was the perfect fit for the mood of the song.Though the song has a good tune, the lyrics and the instrumentation is cluttered at parts.Vijay who is originally of a Kannada decent should have had better pronunciation of telugu than the regular Tamil singers but simple mistakes like "chali" instead of "cheli" and "nonnu" instead of "nannu" would have been corrected.Music is simple throughout the song with just a single drum rythm on the background and guitar riffs here and there throughout. The song starts on a good note but goes on a very high tune in the middle and ends suddenly. This song may impress you only because of the strong vocals from vijay prakash.

5.O Range -☆☆☆
Artist(s): Benny Dayal
Lyricist: Vanamali
When it comes to telugu commercial movies, producers tend to add mass numbers to a simple melodious album. This song comes in this genre and it adds the necessary beats to attract the mass audience to this album.Sung by Benny dayal who comes from the AR Rehman school of singers and who is famous for singing some of the good numbers for meastro does a decent job in this song. The music is simple in this song and the lyrics are very normal, espicially the hindi lyrics are not at all up to mark. The song starts on a very normal mode and it gets good as it progresses, thanks to the arabic feel benny gives to his songs.I like the way the following lines were composed in the song

"Ne veyyi sarlu premistha,ne gunde lone prema undi"
"Ne Kotta cherithe ne raastha, naa love lo life undi"

as it sounds different and unique to your ears.I would have loved this song if there were better lyrics and of course a more organized orchestration throughout. On a whole a decent number.

6.Rooba Rooba -☆☆☆
Artist(s): Shail Hada, Chinmayee
Lyricist: Vanamali
If you think you are getting bored with the last two songs in the album,Harris comes up with yet another composition that grows on you as you hear it.The way this song starts,it remembers us of many of those pritam numbers in hindi and we also heard a similar song "Kannire olikanu le" from the movie thakita thakita which starts with the same guitar melody.I think harris would have made so many numbers with the same melody but he sounds unique each time and he scores again with this number.Sung by shail hada who is famously known for the title song of "Saawariya" has done a good job in the song.Lyrics are not upto mark again and i really dont like the way lyricists these days are mixing the hindi lyrics on telugu songs and the same happens for this song too.The orchestration is good in parts, mainly the way the guitar melody was introduced with the chorus in the middle of the song.Shail hada is sincere in his rendition and this song grows with the listener and its a good hear.

On the whole, coming with great expectations -ORANGE audio is mixed bag of everything. It has good melodies which can grow on you when you keep listening to them but at the same time it has some numbers which can easily draw back your patience and make you to not listen to the audio.Till date i felt its not the best works of harris jayaraj and Iam sure ORANGE audio would have been much much better if harris would have been a telugu speaker and if he would have used telugu singers.Lyrics are always a problem in telugu albums and the same repeats in this album with some songs being an exception. My picks in the album are "Chilipiga","Nenu Nuvvu antu" and "Hello Rammantu".On a last note,ORANGE is a CD to keep and listen in future for sure.Enjoy Music

feels ackward...somehow the whole album has a dubbing film feel...dont know if its the problem with the lyricist or the music director...
